Tips for planning outdoor play for children

Nowadays children are more busy with the school curriculum, studies, and activity classes. And if they get any free time, its spent with electronic gadgets like  television, smart phones, tabs, laptops. We could hardly see children playing outside. Actually outdoor playing is extremely important for child’s physical, mental and social development. Exercise while playing helps to get strong bones and better immunity and physical development. Outdoor playing has many benefits like it builds stamina, increase confidence .Playing in a team is another advantage for the social development of the child. Children learn about many things like nature, seasons, materials, while playing out. Overall it is important to take children out more often.  Parents can plan outdoor activities for children with following      interesting ways.

1. Celebrations /Party


Birthdays, graduation, celebration parties are prefect options to be outdoor.Instead of organizing the party at home/hotel / indoor prefer outdoors.  For planning parties select places like gardens, water parks, playground, amusement parks or beaches. Parents can buy entry tickets of (Amusement park) these places for all invited children as return gifts. Plan outdoor games like musical chair, jumping race or just play with your little guests under the sky. Let children run, catch, jump, and play and enjoy their celebration to fullest. This outdoor party will be an ideal  opportunity to take children outdoor.

 2. Picnic


Plan picnic with your children to nearby places for your next holiday. Picnics give opportunity to go outdoors.  Select places like gardens, Parks, zoo, forts, beaches, temples, Hills. Along with being outdoor children will learn more about nature,     importance of these places. Play many games with your children on your picnics.

3. Trekking to hills


For weekend getaways plan trekking to nearby heels, forts, mountains. It will be fun   along with lots of physical exercise for children and parents too. Trekking will help children learn about nature, soil, rocks, forests, hills, mountains by practical experience. Children will learn a lot about geography with own experience of trekking.  If possible plan camping on hills and show how peaceful life is without electronic gadgets and comforts. Trekking, camping are perfect ways to get closer to nature.

4. Play-dates


Playing with your children outside will help them to encourage outdoor play. Parents can plan and play with their children whenever possible. It will be good family time. First decide what to play? And where to play?   You can select places like home backyard, local Park, community pool, Playground. Then  choose  fun games or sports to play and plan them ahead of time .Talk to your child about  favourite sport (Cricket, Badminton, basketball, football), a game (hide and seek, Musical chair) and play it. Invite their friends or class mates to make this play date more interesting. You will know more about your child’s friend circle during play dates.

5. School activities /Education centre activities


School is the place where children spend most of the time in a day. Schools should have outdoor play, sports activity in curriculum. In this way schools can encourage children for more outdoor activities. Children can be engaged with outdoor activities like professional sports training, seminars, and sports contests. Enroll your child in at least one sports activity from the young age.
