Thandai means coolant and its prefect coolant for this hot summer. Summer is the season for drinking variety of coolants, juices, sarabat , panna drinks. I like to drink lassi as a cooler. So I made lassi the favourite with different flavour of thandai masala. Thandai is special drink served on festivals like Holi. It’s nothing but flavoured milk using selected dry fruits and spices like fennel seeds and cardamoms. Special spice is used for making this festive drink which is known as thandai masala. I have used same spice for making lassi (Buttermilk).
Try this Thandai lassi and beat the heat and get rejuvenated .Its double dose of coolant to get relief from hot summer and festival preparations. Curd 2 cups
Sugar 4 tb spoon
Rose water 1 tb spoon (optional)
Water 2 cups
Ice cubes 2
Thandai masala powder 1 tb spoon
- For making thandai masala :
Grind almonds ,cashews,fennel seeds,poppy seeds,cardamom in grinder to get fine powder.Thandai masala is ready.This can be used for making thandai.
For making thandai lassi:Add curd ,thandai masala powder ,sugar in blender and whisk it for few seconds. It will make fine mixing of all ingredients.
Add rose water , water in blender and blend again for few seconds to make Thandai lassi.Check consistency if you like it more watery add more water and give a whisk again.
- Add ice cubes and garnish with rose petals and saffron strands .Serve chilled Thandai lassi .
