I always wanted my kids to be chubby and fat just like poster babies are. But both of my kids are totally opposite of it and I have to take lot of efforts for their weight gain. For getting them gain some weight I tried many foods and finally consulted their doctor too. Every time doctors suggested me that toddler weight depends on many factors and its not necessary that healthy kids are always chubby. Good health and immunity is important more than chubby chicks. And along with balanced diet proper sleep is important for maintaining overall health of children.
But as I insisted doctors suggested me few foods which definitely help kids to gain some weight . including these food in my kids diet helped them to put on some weight .And I want them to put on some more though. Including variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products , nuts and meat is necessary for providing complete nutrition to children. If your toddler not gaining weight and you are looking for foods to help him/her gain weight try this tips.
Following is the list of foods which help to increase toddler weight:
Eggs are protein rich foods and rich in other nutrients like. Eating boiled eggs everyday helps gaining weight .if your toddler likes omelette then make cheese omelette and offer it for breakfast. Freshly chopped spinach , methi leaves for making different variations of omelette. As soon as doctor suggested to give eggs I started giving boiled eggs and scrambled eggs in my kids breakfast every alternate day. And it really helped them to maintain healthy weight.
#2.Whole cream milk
Dairy products are full of necessary calcium which is necessary for bone development of your child. Try to give whole cream milk whenever giving milk to drink and include milk in variety of dishes like roti dough with milk, kheer /porridges ,whole cream milk ,ice creams, desserts. Few kids dosen’t like to drink milk and thus milk desserts help to solve the problem.
Yoghurt is best dairy product for your toddlers health as it is rich in calcium and has good bacteria which helps to maintain good gut health. if your child dosen’t like plain yoghurt then make flavoured yoghurt or yoghurt smoothies using fresh seasonal fruits like strawberries ,cherries ,mango and yoghurt.
Potatoes have carbs and starch.And best thing about this vegetable is it is liked by many kids generally. Good news is that with the appealing taste this vegetable is helpful for putting up some extra kilos and thus use it for making many dishes for your children. Boil and mash potatoes and sprinkle some essential spices and use this mixture every alternate day or two to make sandwiches ,parathas ,puris ,patties and what’s not. Numerous dishes can be made using favorite potatoes.
#5.Ghee and butter
Ghee is rich in saturated fats. Add spoonful of ghee on rice, curry, lentils and desserts without fail. Butter also has fats and thus useful for gaining weight .Include butter in as many dishes as possible like apply thin it on roti /bread or add dollop of butter on curries and lentils.
Dry fruits like almonds , cashew , pistachios , walnuts ,raisins are source of calcium, proteins , fibers ,iron like nutrients. Include these dry fruits in kids diet by making dry fruit balls ,dry fruit bars ,Smoothies or just handful of dry fruits as evening munchies will also do.
Cheese has loads of calcium and fats too.It’ll help to get stronger bones.Kids who doesn’t like milk can have cheese regularly.Offer everyday a cheese slice or use extra cheese for making pizzas , pastas, sandwiches ,cheesecakes ,desserts.Extra calories in cheese are helpful for increasing toddler weight.
