I woke up today at 6.45 A.m. and it was already the half-hour late than my usual time. I jumped out of the bed as I have to get kids ready for school. so somehow I managed to cook and pack the lunch boxes for all. There was something else on my to-do list for today, but I couldn’t recollect. I sat down to take my morning tea and then I remembered I have to go to Sara’s school. As it’s the first parent-teacher meeting at her school and couldn’t be missed.
I got ready and rushed for attending the PTM. I reached the school around 9.43a.m. and late by 3 minute. Upon reaching the school I received the warm welcome from staff. I absolutely like the staff and teachers in her school as they are very affectionate towards children. Many other parents were waiting in common area for meeting respective teachers. One of the school staff member asked me to take a look at play area in the school. Where they have carefully arranged art and craft things made by students during last semesters. I was extremely surprised to see the art and craft creation by the students. It included cutest art things, informative charts, paintings. And here I go to check the Sara’s creations , I couldn’t believe on my eyes to see them. The child who hardly seats at one place for a minute ,had made wonderful art-craft things, paintedthe drawings in beautiful way. I checked other class’s work as well. The school and teacher have taken remarkable efforts to train little kids and it was showing in this exhibition.
It was 10 am and I entered the classroom to have discussion with Sara’s class teacher. The kind lady welcomed me and shown all the syllabus books and notebooks. She explained about Sara’s performance measured on different scales, behaviour in school, her interests. It was another shock for me to see the neat and clear work in her notebooks . I asked teacher how did she make her seat as it’s something next to impossible for me. she laughed and said, “That’s what schools are for, And children follow their teachers more than parents”. Then teacher handed over her portfolio. The teacher pasted all her photos in it and it included a CD also. It was a wonderful way to see your child’s all records at one place in the portfolio. The teacher answered my queries and concerns and suggested few ways to make child seat and complete the work. ( I’m hoping these tips will work out at home as well).I carried the portfolio with me and planning to frame the photos in it. The most important thing about this school is , they are making children learn in creative ways. Teachers take genuine efforts to teach children and it shows the positive results.Being parent I absolutely liked their ways of teaching children. It was the most fruitful PTM ever had and I’m happy with my pre-school selection for Sara.
