It’s festival time and everyone is busy in preparations for Ganesha chaturthy. Its time of the year to welcome lord Ganesha at our home.Ganesha chaturthy is incomplete without these tiny,tasty modak. Lord Ganesha loves sweets and Modak is his favorite sweet. I like traditional rice flour modak with coconut and jaggery filling inside.Its quite tricky to make outside cover of modak and I always fail in it.Numerous types of modak are made during festival time and I go for making coconut modak with all purpose flour cover.Its made using dry coconut and dry fruits stuffing.Outside cover is made using maida/ all purpose flour.Its perfect crunchy outside and melt in mouth inside. Try this easy to make modak recipe which is perfect for chaturthy celebrations.

  1. Sieve all purpose flour and add salt in it.
  2. Heat spoonful ghee and pour it on all purpose flour.
  3. Add water and knead hard dough of it.Keep it aside covered with wet cloth for 30 minutes.
  4. Powder sugar using grinder.Cut dry fruits cashews/almonds in to small pieces.
  5. Take 2 cups of grated coconut in one big bowl and add powdered sugar , cut dry fruits in it.
  6. Sprinkle cardamom powder in coconut mixture and mix well.
  7. Roll small puris of kneaded dough.
  8. Add spoonful of coconut mixture on puri and take its all ends together to form modak,
  9. Heat pan and pour oil in it.
  10. Fry modak in oil on low flame.
  11. Drain oil and let modak cool for some time.Store coconut modak in air tight container.
