Few days back I went for a kitty party at friends house. Theme of the kitty party was steamed food. Steamed food is good for health and it needs less oil.The lady had cooked perfect array of steamed foods and everyone loved it. She made delicious  Rava dhokala and veg momos as a starter for the  party. Rava dhokala was perfectly steamed, tasty and soft in texture. I immediately noted down the recipe of it and tried it at home.Rava  dhokala is made using rava / semolina .It’s famous Gujarati snacks and made in similar way as that of Besan dhokala. Its cooked by steaming , and needs special dhokala cooker, idli cooker or pressure cooker. I have used pressure by removing its gasket. After removing gasket of pressure cooker steam doesn’t  pass out and dhokala gets cooked on steam inside. It gets ready in 15- 20 minutes time. Note one thing it’s easy to digest snacks so you can give it toddlers also.My younger kid likes to eat all types of dhokala.

Make this steamed savory cakes for breakfast and serve with any choice of chutaney or ketchup.

Instructions
  1. Mix semolina with curd and some water and keep it aside for 1 hour.
  2. Add finely chopped green chilies ,sugar, salt and some water in above mix-ture to get fine batter.
  3. Grease one vessel with some oil.
  4. Switch on gas and keep water for boiling in steamer /idli cooker.
  5. Add 1 tea spoon of soda in semolina batter and give nice stir to it which will increase volume of batter.
  6. Pour batter immediately in the greased vessel and keep it in steamer.
  7. Close lead of steamer and cook for 15-20 minutes or until its cooked.
  8. For checking dhokala is cooked or not insert knife in ti and check whether it comes out clean.
  9. For seasoning heat oil and add cumin , mustard seeds in it and after spluttering seeds add asafoetida,curry leaves and chopped chilies in hot oil and pour it immediately in dhokala.
  10. Cut dhokala in any shape and enjoy with ketchup or chutaney.
