Rava  sheera is quick to make dessert and thus made most widely. Go to any temple in India and it’s sure to get this dessert as a Prasad (Offering).I remember when I was child I used to eat sheera for breakfast. My mother used to add lots of dry fruits and ghee to make it rich breakfast for me and my brothers. We used to eat variety of sheera  for our breakfast like almonds sheera ,banana sheera , atta sheera , Rava kesari. It was feast to have it as a breakfast. I make sheera every time with some different touch .Now I add extra ingredients , seasonal fruits like mangoes , pineapple to make mango sheera , pineapple sheera.

Most important thing I like about Rava sheera is it gets ready quickly and with very few  available ingredients. As its easy to digest it can be given to young babies while starting solids.While making it for babies add more liquid ingredients to make it soft, runny.

Tip:  For making rava  sheera ,rava/ semolina   needs to be roasted on low flame until nice aroma comes out  and  it turns lightly pink. If it’s not roasted properly ,rava  sheera will become sticky and wont taste good as well.

  1. Heat pan and add rava in it.Roast it on low flame untill nice aroma comes out.it will take around 15-20 minutes.
  2. Boil milk and water mixture in separate pan and keep it aside for adding in sheera.
  3. Heat pan and pour ghee in it .
  4. Add roasted rava and sugar in it and mix well.
  5. pour hot milk and water mixture and saute for few minutes.
  6. Cook sheera fro 5 more minutes to achieve required consistency.
  7. Switch off gas and sprinkle cardamom powder on sheera.
  8. Garnish with dry fruits and serve rava sheera.
